What A Gem! - I have just returned from 5 glorious days in Aberdeenshire. The Old Shooting Lodge was booked for me as a surprise and I have to say I couldn't have wished for anything better. Both Neil and Mark made me so welcome, and looked after me very well indeed. It is a lovely house, in a great quiet spot with so many lovely walks, birds and easy access to the amazing coastline. My room was very attractive, comfortable & clean, with everything I needed, and the breakfasts were awesome!
I will be back again next year, and already looking forward to it!

Thank you again, guys

Wonderful place to stay - Highly recommend - Just back from a week long stay at The Old Shooting Lodge staying in one of the wooden lodges. We paid £500 for the week during the kids holidays and it has to be one of the bargains of all time. The lodge more than comfortably slept our party of 6 with its 3 bedrooms. The living area is just brilliant and the outside surroundings teriffic. Our 2 kids played football and ran around for hours in a very safe picturesque setting. The owners are very friendly and accomodating. We were in the area visiting family and its a very convenient location for all the local villages or the larger coastal towns. The lodge has an equipment spec that is better than ours at home and we even arrived to a welcome pack of the basics to start us off on a great holiday. Will definitely be back

A Haven of Peace! - Having read some reviews of the lodge, I decided that it was just the place for my husband and I to spend a night on the way to relatives in the north. We were not to be disappointed as it lived up to all our expectations!
From the warmth of the welcome from Neil to the wonderful breakfast prepared by Mark, we could not fault it. The house is so peaceful and the bedroom was very comfortable so a great night's sleep was had.
It is so reassuring to find such standards of service are still to be found and we have had more evidence of this on our various travels in Scotland. Congratulations to Mark and Neil!

We really enjoyed our stay at your lodge, best we have ever stayed in and all the compliments supplied made it feel like a four star hotel. So much so that we are thinking of buying a plot of land and building our own somewhere in Aberdeenshire.

Dear Mark and Neil, I had a lovely time meeting you and my stay in your Bed & Breakfast was fab and I would love to come again.

Excellent place to stay - There just isn't a bad point to make about our three day stay here. Super breakfast and a first class room. We were greeted with a tray of coffee and biscuits after our long drive, which was not expected. The owners couldn't be more helpful and even dried our soaking motorcycle clothing for us.

Sheer Bliss - We stayed here with my daughter and her two children aged 1 yr and 4 yrs. The guys could not do enough for us and made the children so welcome, made up a cot for us, high chair the lot, even a wee sweet for them, all these touches did not go un noticed. Always find it very difficult travelling and staying in hotels with children you always get uptight in case they are annoying other guests but not so here - all the facilities in the cabin - both inside and out - were outstanding - nothing we could fault whatsoever - Thanks a million guys - We really did appreciate all your kind efforts

Our 4th visit and as ever it was wonderful. Excellent, comfortable accomodation, brill food and fantastic hosts. See you next year.

A lovely peaceful location in a beautiful, well equipped, very clean wood cabin. An unexpected food starter pack which was very thoughtfully chosen. Although we were here in July it would make a lovely winter break with the wood burning stove. Local amenities are very close by, lots of castles and wonderful beaches with aberdeen nearby for great shopping! Neil made us feel very welcome and our stay very comfortable. We would definitely recommend a visit.

Excellent location in every way - We stayed at the Old Shooting Lodge over the May Bank Holiday weekend We were very impressed both by the facilities and by the welcome we received. The log cabin was spotless and what a surprise to find that the owners had thought to have some basic foodstuffs in for the new arrivals. We would recommend the Old Shooting Lodge to anyone and indeed have already booked for a return visit

From: Mrs Wilson (Sat 7th May 2011 at 08:43)
Absolutely Fantastic - My daughter and I stayed here for 10 glorious days. The chalet was fantastic. They are decorated to a very high standard, absolutely spotless, and comfortable. The owners Mark and Neil could not have been more helpful, they were friendly and could not do enough, while leaving you in peace. The welcome pack of food was indeed a very great addition and extremely generous. Everyone who visited us was very impressed and would love to stay here as it was stunning.I would thorouhly recommend this wonderful establishment and will go again when in the area. The facilities for dogs was excellent, my dog loved it, a whole paddock and field for her to run around was heaven. Excellent, can't praise it enough

Just a wee email to say thank you so much for a lovely restful night and a great breakfast. your house is just gorgeous. I hope to be back in the future and will recommend it to friends

From: Col Napier (Sat 16th Oct 2010 at 20:07)
A great place for people who like to do their own thing. In a quiet, rural, but centrally located part of Buchan, the chalet contained everything necessary for a stress-free, self-catering vacation - all home comforts being provided. All that is needed is some groceries, but even this can be avoided with the local eateries nearby. In an area of great natural beauty, steeped in tradition and history, you are assured of a warm welcome from Neil & Mark - nothing is too much trouble. We stayed a week, and wished it could have been much longer.

From: Phyl & Family (Tue 17th Aug 2010 at 13:53)
My kids and grandchildren stayed in one of the cabins this past weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. So much so that, my eldest is pestering her partner to have a smaller version built at the bottom of their garden!
Mark and Neil ensured their stay was catered for by arranging a highchair & cot for the youngest.
Really great touch to have the essential foods in place on arrival, it was unexpected. My grandchildren thought the wild rabbits outside their cabin were magical. If we have an occasion to have all the family up for another visit, I'll have no problem recommending the The Old Shooting Lodge again. Sincere thanks for a great stay.

From: Rob & Louise (Fri 23rd Jul 2010 at 18:10)
Absolutely stunning wooden cabin with full central heating, all the mod cons you can dream of and so much space! It really was like a home from home, only much tidier than my own house.
Our dogs took to it in no time and it was a nice quiet safe and cool place to leave them in the day when we couldn't take them out in the car on really hot days.
Neil and Mark thought of absolutely everything you would need and it was there. Wok, egg cups, you name it.
A short drive to the shops and the wonderful Aden Country Park. Also an excellent place to convalesce with rolling country walks a short distance away

From: Becky n Family (Fri 18th Jun 2010 at 18:12)
After a long journey we were welcomed by the proprietors who showed us to the Lodge where we were to stay, our first impressions were how spotlessly clean and very light and airy the accommodation was.
We can definitely say that the lodge suited all our needs, extremely safe & child and pet friendly too!
The Accommodation was lovely and warm and comfortable (sadly we didn’t get to use the wood burner due to the warm weather)
The kitchen was very well equipped for a family stay, we even had some visitors for a meal and the owners soon rustled up an extra chair without any fuss. It was lovely to sit out on the patio area in the morning having breakfast with views over the fields. Our son especially loved seeing the lambs, and much to his delight was even given his own pot of food to feed the resident pheasants when they arrived.
A real home from home, we were sad to have to leave and hope to return again one day! Thanks so much for everything and making our stay so enjoyable.

Just to say a big thank you for the lovely (if very brief!) stay with you. As you know we needed an overnight stay up there after working at the wedding in Fraserburgh. I looked at many B&Bs and yours caught my eye so much that I booked it, and how glad I am! Lovely and clean, comfy, splendid location and you were a perfect, friendly host. Your delicious home cooked breakfast set us up for our very long drive home! Just had another email enquiry today for a wedding next year in St Combs, Fraserburgh so you never know, we may be back!!

From: Mr & Mrs Preston (Mon 17th May 2010 at 08:58)
The location is very beutiful and peaceful. Lovely views from room, and very well decorated and very clean. Owners were very welcoming and informative. The whole place was really homely. Food was lovely, especially the packed lunches. I would highly recommend this place. We will definatley be back. The rating "exellent" does not rate this place highly enough.

Lovely modern, clean holiday lodge, so comfortable and cosy just like home, within a beautiful country setting. Absolutely loved the log burner! Excellent warm welcome as always brilliant service, can't fault it. Location for us is ideal for Peterhead and Aberdeen for visiting our relatives. An ideal place to stay within easy reach of local amenities, places of interest to visit, fantastic coastline and lovely sandy beaches.

We stayed for 4 nights in one of the two brand new holiday lodges and we were highly delighted with the whole experience. The booking procedure was swift and efficient and, when we arrived after a long journey, we received a warm and friendly welcome and were shown into immaculately clean accommodation with all the mod cons and facilities you could wish for. The lodge is homely and comfortable in every way and the proprietors cannot do enough to ensure that your stay is as pleasant as possible. If you are partial to peaceful surroundings and seclusion this is the place for you. When you open the bedroom curtains in the morning and see cattle in the field close by, a wild rabbit or two right outside the window and the odd pheasant strolling by you know that you have got away from it all ! Within a mile of this tranquil setting is the pleasant village of Mintlaw where the self caterer is adequately provided for with groceries etc. There are Chinese, Indian and fish and chip takeaways too. The "Happy Plant" garden centre and gift shop is a must for a meal, a snack or even just a coffee. We have every intention of returning to this part of the world and no prizes for guessing which accommodation we shall choose

We stayed in this brand new log cabin whilst on a shooting holiday, the cabin was superb. We were met by Mark Gurney on our arrival and when shown inside he had taken the time to provide bread, milk, butter etc which was a god send after a 9hr drive. Mark could not do enough for us during our stay, the facilities inside the cabin were also immaculate am looking to go back to Scotland next year and will be contacting Mark for sure to re-book this lodge. Book here first before anywhere else or you will be dissappointed.
